Crop Culture Report: Cleome Clementine™
Garden Height: 15 to 18 inches
Garden Width: 10 to 12 inches
Production Seasons: Spring/Summer/Fall
Cleome Clementine™ promotes complete uniformity in size as well as bloom initiation. Excellent for the garden as the plants do not produce seedling offspring. Fantastic heat tolerance and daylength neutrality allow for year round production.
Crop planning from cell packs:
Pot size: Plants per pot (pp) Crop Time (weeks)
6” pot (15cm) 1 pp 7 to 9 weeks
8” pot (20cm) 1 pp 9 to 11 weeks
10” to 14” pot (25 to 36cm) 3 to 4 pp 8 to 11 weeks
Temperature Requirement: 62° to 65°F (17° to 18°C) night temperatures with a minimum of 60°F (16°C) days. Allowing the day temperature to reach 75° to 85° F (24° to 29°C) is no problem. Clementine™ thrive in warm temperature conditions. Cool temperatures will slow growth and may cause yellowing of foliage.
Media and pH Requirement: Water thoroughly and let soil dry between irrigations. Do not keep consistently wet or root rot problems may develop. The first signal of consistent wet conditions could be yellowing of foliage and weak growth. The pH of the soil should be maintained at 5.5 to 6.2.
Fertilizer Requirements: Feed with a balanced feed at 150 to 250-PPM Nitrogen. In a soil-less mix, additional iron may be required. EC of 1.0 to 1.6 is optimum.
Pinching Requirement: Soft pinch once the plant is established after transplant but before the stem becomes tough. For larger containers, an additional pinch is recommended.
Growth Regulators: Items used and rates will vary greatly with growing conditions. Cycocel/B-9™ tank mix, Sumagic™ and Topflor™ – Trial rates of the above chemicals for your use.
Disease and Insect Pests: Aphids, Mites and Thrip
Pythium/Phytophthora and Rhizoctonia: Drench regularly with preventative fungicides to control root / stem disease issues.
Allow soil to dry between irrigations and good air circulation allowing foliage to dry before sunset are good cultural practices as well.
